I rediscovered the joys of purchasing music off of iTunes today. It comes to me instantly and it is as if money never leaves me.
I bought Apoptygma Berzerk's new album "Rocket Science"...and in all honesty, I was underwhelmed. I'll give it a few more listens before I pass total judgment. If anything, the single "Apollo (Live on Your TV)" is totally catchy.
Minsk's debut album "Out of a Center Which is Neither Dead Nor Alive" is completely fucking amazing. Wall-of-sound production and lyrically captivating...I don't understand how this band isn't a huge underground sensation yet.
"Bloodletting and Forgetting" - Minsk
The dive into numbness, the only option today.
Retreating into oblivion never felt so effortless.
Forging the path within an eternal descent.
Living through death.
Embracing discontent.
Face down.
Bloodletting and forgetting.
Exorcising demons.
Exercising futility.

My Wine In Silence
I would love nothing more than to be sitting in a highbacked-wingtipped chair in front of a roaring fire, a cat curled on my lap, and a glass of red wine in my hand.
But all I have is a bottle of bourbon and some doom metal. Great from my contemplative, introspective angst.
Spring Semester starts soon, so hopefully that will revive my spirits.
Yes, I am falling... how much longer 'till I hit the ground?
I can't tell you why I'm breaking down.
Do you wonder why I prefer to be alone?
Have I really lost control?

Interim
So far, Interim has been a total blast. I am in love with my roommates. I am totally gay for Al, want to have my way with Kevin, and spoon with Mike on a weekly basis.
In all seriousness, Interim has been good. Not taking a class has its pros and cons. Mostly, I play video games while waiting for my roommates to get back from class. I also go to the gym every week day. Monday/Wednesday are weight training, Tuesday/Thursday are more cardio, and Friday is a kind of relaxed/whatever day. I have only been going for a week or two so the results aren't too noticeable yet, but they will be. My goal is to be a toned hottie by the end of Spring semester.
Also, my reputation precedes me. Apparently, word of my insane alcohol tolerance has gotten around. In fact, for Shaun's birthday, I was capable of doing 32 shots and still remaining coherent for most of the time (it got a bit foggy towards the end). I'm not sure if my high tolerance is a good thing or not. But one thing is for sure, I'm not doing 32 shots again at a party.

I am amazed
It staggers my mind how ignorant people can be about metal. Fuuuuck.
First, it is "Megadeth" not "Megadeath".
Secondly, Underoath, My Chemical Romance, and the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus are not metal.
Thirdly, metal is far from dead, you just don't hear shitty radio-rock/metal that much anymore because it has been replaced by emo/screamo rock.

Wow
I understand a lot of things right now.
Especially the phrase
"When you stare at the abyss, the abyss stares back at you"
Oh Nietzsche....how right you were.

Hooray 2009!
I'll have to do some kind of retrospective at some point. Suffice to say, 2008 wasn't as bad for me as it seemed to be for everyone else. But I am excited about this upcoming year.
Back to GR tomorrow!!!
Also, I am fantastic at singing Oasis songs and pop/punk songs on Rock Band. However, you probably don't want to hear my renditions of "Crushcrushcrush" or "Eye of the Tiger".
That is all for now

Twilight Imperium
BrotherDave is moving to Arizona in a few days, but we thankfully got in one last game of Twilight Imperium before he leaves. And for all of you who don't know, TI is essentially Risk in space on crack-cocaine.
Sadly, this game didn't treat me too well. BrotherJohn took the early lead in terms of victory points and ability to produce units, but suffered a pretty serious set-back when Nate staged a daring sneak attack against one of John's major sectors. John counterattacked to regain his territory, but then BrotherDave launched a series of surgical strikes against him!
After several turns of build up in my well fortified homesystems, I launched an ill-fated raid against David that met crushing defeat. Thankfully, there were no reprisal attacks, allowing me to attack Nate the next turn, only to again be defeated in what should have been a decisive victory for me. I did, however, steal the ever important Mecatol Rex from John to gain a victory point.
Then last turn consisted of John finishing off the remainder of Nate's forces in his territory as well as battling some of David's forces. I attacked Nate again and crushed his last major outpost, seizing 2 victory points in the process. Nate counter-attacked, but although he inflicted some serious damage to my fleet, I warded him off. It was a pyrrhic victory because David then overwhelmed what few damaged ships I had left with a numerically superior fleet.
In the end, David had 11 victory Points, John had 10, I had 5, and Nate had 4.
So there it was, 10 hours of backstabbing, plotting, scheming, and fun.
